Dear Republican Leader,
Governor Schwarzenegger needs the support of Republicans of River
City and now is the time to write a Letter to the Editor in support
of the Governor's agenda.
Here's some good talking points to use in
your letters:
Governor Schwarzenegger has launched a bold reform agenda on behalf
of all Californians to make the state a better place to live, work,
and raise a family.
He's proposed real reforms that will improve education for our
children, make our politicians accountable to the voters through
redistricting, and ease the financial burden placed on taxpayers by
years of reckless overspending in Sacramento.
At last we have a leader who's not afraid to stand up to the
powerful special interests and unions opposed to improving life in
California.
Governor Schwarzenegger is doing the right thing by challenging the
status quo and the politicians who stand in the way of reform. The
Legislature is playing politics with education and the budget. What
they should do is get behind the
Governor's reform agenda and make California work for the people,
not the special interests.
If the Governor's reforms are not passed into law, the very people
who got California into this current mess will be allowed to
continue inflicting more damage. We can not let that happen. The
people of California need to stand together in support of the
Governor's reform agenda.
When the special interests voice their opposition to the Governor's
reforms, we must express our support for the Governor louder.
The Governor is fighting for the people of California and we need to
make sure he knows that we are on his side.
The Governor is going to stand up to the special interests and fight
to reform California.
The Governor's reforms will put the power of government back in the
hands of the people.
Unions and special interests want to keep the status quo because it
protects the grip they have on Sacramento.
Governor Schwarzenegger is not afraid to use his political capital
to stand up to the unions and Democrats in the legislature to pass
his critical reform agenda.
The Governor has the support of the people of California because he
has been a strong advocate of reforming politics as usual.
Californians will join Governor Schwarzenegger and show the nation
that the unions and special interests will no longer be allowed to
stand in the way of reform.
The Governor has kept true to his word that California's children
should always come first, and his budget reinforces that commitment
by increasing education spending by 7.1 percent.
Under the current budget system, the state will always spend more
than it takes in and will never catch up on its deficit. The state
can't tax its way to prosperity.
o This year, California took in over $5 billion more in general fund
revenues
than last year.
o Auto-pilot formulas within the budget system require that the
state spend
over $10 billion more than last year.
o Because of the broken system, an increase in taxes triggers an
automatic
increase in spending. That is a formula for fiscal disaster.
The same people who opposed the recall of Gray Davis and who want to
increase your taxes are opposing the Governor's balanced budget.
